Red for the coaches, but no winner: In the heated Derby della Mole, the Italian football record champions Juventus did not get beyond a 1:1 (1:1) draw at FC Turin. Thiago Motta (Juve) and his counterpart Paolo Vanoli (Torino) were sent to the stands by referee Michael Fabbri after a tussle (56th minute).
The result doesn’t help Juventus in particular. For the former series champions, who remain unbeaten, it was the twelfth draw in the 19th Serie A game of the season, and renewed qualification for the Champions League could be in jeopardy. Juve are still only fifth in the table, AC Florence can overtake them on Monday.
The young Turkish star Kenan Yildiz gave cup winners Juventus an early lead (8th), Nikola Vlasic equalized before the break (45th + 1).
Atalanta and Milan without wins
On Saturday evening, AC Milan also only played a draw against Cagliari Calcio. At 1:1 (0:0), Alvaro Morata first gave Milan the lead (51st), before Nadir Zortea was able to equalize (55th).
Atalanta Bergamo had previously missed the chance to jump to the top in the afternoon. Due to the 0-0 draw at Udinese Calcio, the Europa League winners are still second behind SSC Napoli. Defending champions Inter Milan can overtake Bergamo with a win at FC Venice on Sunday.
On Friday evening, Lazio Rome couldn’t get beyond a 1-1 (1-0) draw against AC Como and had to lose contact with the top trio.
