Bitter tears at Noemie Fox: At the Canal Lalom World Championships in the category of a Canadian (C1), the 28-year-old very favored Olympic champion did not go beyond ninth place-and of all things at the tournament in her homeland Australia. After that, Fox was visibly taken away.
Gold secured the Polish Klaudia Zwolińska. The distance to Fox was 3.94 seconds – a clear result that made the disappointment even greater.
At the finish she broke out in tears. Her sister Jessica Fox, herself three Olympic champion, was at her side and donated comfort. After an operation on a kidney tumor, she could not actively participate in the title fights, but followed the race from the stands.
The British “Daily Mail” quotes the completely dissolved Fox after the race: “I’m very frustrated.” She “let out all emotions.” Nothing fit in the race, “and then only a small mistake came in the view and the wind”. The conditions on the course were also not easy: the fluctuating gates were difficult to master, she said.
