The German gymnasts had hopes for the home European Championships in Leipzig. But there was bad news on Thursday.

Great terror at the European European Championship in Leipzig: Turn hope Helen Kevric has apparently seriously injured himself at the start of the all-round final. The 17-year-old fell on the jump after landing, stayed on his back and had to be treated in the hall.

National coach Gerben Wiersma and team doctor Rainer Eckhardt wore Kevric from the competition hall a little later. According to the German Turner Association, the European Championship second in the team competition was taken to the hospital for examination-the knee is affected. At first there was no information about the exact diagnosis.

Kevric started the all-round final as the third best and was one of the German medal hopes. In addition, she had qualified for the uneven barren final-with realistic chances of the title. In 2022, Elisabeth Seitz had won gold on this device. The 31-year-old surprisingly explained her resignation shortly before the start of the competition-and that she will be a mother.
