Drake breaks 55-year-old Beatles record

Drake is once again in the fast lane: The rapper has managed to break the Beatles’ 55-year-old record. Now it’s not the most successful band in world history that has the most top 5 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, but the Canadian rapper.

Drake triumphs with 30 top 5 hits

For over half a century, the Beatles maintained their spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with 29 Top 5 hits. With 30 songs, Drake is now enthroned at the top. The song “Staying Alive” featuring Drake, DJ Khaled and Lil Baby debuted this week at number five. This triumph already represents his 30th Billboard record. In doing so, the rapper also extended his other records for most top 10, top 20, top 40, and hot 100 entries.

Drake shared his recent success on social media. Billboard also dedicated a post to the rapper on Twitter in the form of an announcement video.

In addition to numerous awards from Billboard, Drake has also received several Grammy Awards. 44 of his songs debuted in the top 10 of the Hot 100, making him the most top 10 Hot 100 debuts of any artist. Another seven songs even reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. With this, Drake set another record.

Drake aka “Drizzy” not only pursues a career as a rapper, but also as an actor. The native Canadian is, among other things, a producer of the HBO series “Euphoria” with Zendaya in the leading role.

Billboard is expanding its charts concept

Just ten years ago, only those songs that were commercially available for individual purchase could enter the Billboard charts. Now, Billboard has expanded the process by also including the streaming data, allowing an album’s entire tracklist to be charted even after it has debuted. This gives the artists the opportunity to remain in their place long after they have entered the top 100.
