Walking over the Alkmaarse Vrijmarkt is ‘Twitterpastoor’ Van Peperstraten clearly in his element. “King’s Day is one of my favorite days of the year. I am happy that it will continue.” But the day is also double for him. “But that’s how life is.”

Back home he looks at the funeral mass for Pope Francis on television with a grateful feeling. “The songs are fairly simple,” he analyzes, eating an orange tompoes. “You would also get such a funeral as a normal Catholic. It fits this pope.”
Moving who becomes the new pope, he does not dare. “After the funeral, nine days of mourning follow and then the conclave starts,” he explains. “Nobody knows who it will be, not even the cardinals. They usually need more than one day with voting rounds.”
