The 37-year-old Paralympic champion from Tokyo won the time trial and the road race (H3) in Upper Austria. Zeyen also won bronze in a team with Vico Merklein and Johannes Herter. Maike Hausberger (C2) and Michael Teuber (C1) on two-wheelers and Maximilian Jäger (T2) on three-wheelers also won European time trial titles.
20 medals for Team Germany
The athletes from Germany secured a total of 20 medals and can therefore look forward to the World Championships in Canada in August with confidence. “I hadn’t expected it to go so well. Bronze in the relay was a perfect start to the European Championship.”said Zeyen, who got along very well with the routes in the region between Passau and Linz: “I really like the mountains, so the meters in altitude came in handy for me.”
