In August, the much-anticipated “Elden Ring” will be arriving on the Switch 2 in the form of the “Tarnished Edition.” Accompanied by fresh content, fans of other platforms can look forward to enjoying it through a DLC. The cost of this additional content has now been revealed.
Originally, “Elden Ring” was expected to launch last year on the Switch 2, but performance issues delayed the release of the “Tarnished Edition,” which includes the main game, the acclaimed story expansion “Shadow of the Erdtree,” and entirely new content.
In early June, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware finally announced the official release date. Additionally, they confirmed that players on other platforms would not be left out. The “Tarnished Pack” will offer this additional content as a separate DLC.
However, fans were left wondering how much they would have to spend. Until now.
Affordable Surprise: The Cost of the Tarnished Pack
If you were bracing for a price tag of 10 euros or more, you can breathe a sigh of relief: According to a blog post by Bandai Namco on their official website, the “Tarnished Pack” for “Elden Ring” will be available for a mere 4.99 euros.
This positions the publisher’s mini-expansion as an affordable bonus for loyal fans eager to embark on a new journey through the Lands Between during late summer.
“The standard price for the ‘Tarnished Pack’ is set at 4.99 euros. Local currency fluctuations may affect final pricing,” the statement reads. The developers promise that the DLC will provide a “great opportunity to enrich Elden Ring with a fresh, new gaming experience.”
New Classes, Armors, Weapons, and a Fresh Look for Torrent
So, what exactly does the “Tarnished Pack” offer? The centerpiece consists of two completely new starting classes:
- The Heavy Knight: This class starts with a heavy, deep black plate armor and a great sword. It’s ideal for players who want to prioritize maximum defense and powerful counterattacks from the get-go.
- Knight of Ides: A versatile fighter with a unique moveset and specific starting equipment that favors alternative hybrid builds.
The DLC also brings four new armor sets complete with matching weapons. Notably, it introduces cosmetic alterations for the spectral steed, Torrent. The “Tarnished Pack” includes three exclusive skins that transform the appearance of your loyal companion.
The “Tarnished Pack” is scheduled to launch on August 28, 2026, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC—simultaneously with the “Tarnished Edition” for the Switch 2. It’s essential to remember that those purchasing the game for the Nintendo console will receive the new contents at no extra cost.
