Soufiane El-Faouzi immediately became a top performer at Schalke 04. That seems to have sparked interest from other clubs.

A lot of things are currently going according to plan at FC Schalke 04. Under new coach Miron Muslić, the Royal Blues have made a strong start to the season, are now at the top of the 2nd Bundesliga – and can make it into the round of 16 in the DFB Cup against Darmstadt 98 on Wednesday (from 8:45 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online). Eight wins from ten games, five of them in a row, and only five goals conceded speak for themselves.

A key player in this development is Soufiane El-Faouzi. The 23-year-old came from Alemannia Aachen in the summer for a comparatively low fee of 200,000 euros and has quickly developed into a fixture in Schalke’s midfield. That arouses desire. As the TV channel Sky reports, Borussia Dortmund is said to have kept an eye on El-Faouzi.

His agent Tim Jerat now commented on the rumors to Sky: “At the moment there are actually a lot of inquiries from clubs that are interested in Soufiane.” As a general rule, you don’t comment on club names, he said.

But then Jerat added: “What you can definitely say: Soufiane wouldn’t do anything that doesn’t feel right for a Schalke player. He feels completely at home at Schalke – and he’s only just arrived.”
