Anyone who goes to Efteling this weekend will have to skip a visit to Danse Macabre. A malfunction was created on Thursday morning at the new attraction. As a result, the crowd puller is probably closed all weekend. In recent months, one after the other occurs at Danse Macabre, according to data from Eftelstats.

That an attraction, and certainly such a popular as Danse Macabre, has to close in the busy summer months, is a huge damper for Efteling and its guests. Maintenance of attractions is usually never planned in high season, but actually always in the winter and autumn months.

“We are still looking for the cause.”

According to Efteling, there is also no maintenance. “It is a technical malfunction and we are still looking for the cause,” says spokeswoman Karin Koppelmans. Normally, technical malfunctions are not mentioned on the maintenance page of the amusement park in Kaatsheuvel.

“We have chosen that now because it is such a popular attraction and we are not yet sure when it will be repaired,” Koppelmans explains. “So we now report as a precaution that Danse Macabre will stay closed for the entire weekend, but when it is repaired, the attraction will immediately open again. And we hope that this is as soon as possible.”

“Danse Macabre has had the longest malfunction since May.”

Out of data from Eftelstats It appears that Danse Macarbe has been the attraction since May who has stood still for the longest time due to malfunctions. “My gut feeling said not, but the total comes to 3936 minutes,” says Jan van Kampen van Eftelstats. For years, he has been monitoring all queues, malfunctions and maintenance periods of Efteling attractions before his website.

Since May, the popular new attraction has been a total of two days and almost eighteen hours in a malfunction while the Efteling was open. The flying Dutchman stood still for more than eight hours in the same period. Danse Macabre had not stopped for more than six hours in the first months after the opening due to malfunctions. “Since May you see that this has risen to more than eleven hours and longer,” Van Kampen explains.

“There have been more malfunctions since May.”

The new attraction of the Efteling has been running like a sun since the opening last October, but since May one has occurred one after the other. “There was then maintenance and a new journey program was introduced and since then there have been more malfunctions, but one does not have to make with the other,” says spokeswoman Koppelmans. For now she hopes that the large crowd puller can open again as quickly as possible.
