Thomas van Groningen succeeds both Art Rooijakkers and Malou Petter as the regular presenter of News of the Day. His back is Pim Sedee and that means that there is no female input at all.
SBS 6 chose news from the day of the start for a male and female presenter, to save the balance, but now Art and Malou are being replaced by one man. Moreover, Thomas van Groningen’s substitute is also a man: Pim Sedee. How will the TV channel fix this for the longer term? Will there be a woman?
“Get Welmoed!”
Thomas would like it if Talpa tries to get his former WNL colleague Welmoed Sijtsma. “That is a difficult question. Welmoed Sijtsma is very welcome. I think that is someone who would suit news of the day,” he says in conversation with De Telegraaf.
Then smiling: “But now you have elicited me an answer to a question that I should never have answered, haha.”
Year further
It must be painful for WNL that they have never seen Thomas’s potential, especially now that he has shouted this summer as presenter of the Oranjezomer.
“I am not so concerned with that. WNL is also doing very well. Well, they did not find me as suitable as a presenter of Goedemorgen Nederland, but we are now a year further. Let’s look ahead.”
Parlor
Now that he is going to present every day, Thomas stops as a political reporter of Hart van Nederland. “I am planning to show my face in the Lower House for news from the day for news from the day.
