The Berlinale is threatened with a financial bottleneck. This is reported by Spiegel Online. Accordingly, there should be cuts in the budget of the festival.

Every year, the Berlinale reports 10.7 million euros from the budget of Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth. Last year, 2.2 million euros were added for cost increases, as was the case this year. But that should end in 2024.

Austerity measures would then be necessary, according to which Mirror online, three sections could fall victim. Accordingly, the perspective German cinema, Berlinale Series and the homage with Berlinale Classics would be deleted.
