It was the opening question to Ali B when he arrived at the court: ‘Good morning, do you consider yourself a sexual predator?’ The big question now is: will Aran Bade also do this to Marco Borsato?
RTL Boulevard reporter Aran Bade caused quite a controversy with the way he greeted Ali B when we saw him walking towards the court. He ran up to the rapper first and asked the now famous question: “Ali, good morning, do you consider yourself a sexual predator?” It caused visible discomfort.
Sexual predator
Tomorrow it is Marco Borsato’s turn to make that painful walk to the court. Will he also get Aran on his roof? “The shelter of the painful walk to court and having to adopt an attitude about it and knowing what will be discussed there, yes, that is quite something of course,” says Private boss Evert Santegoeds.
His colleague Jordi Versteegden then appeared in the podcast Strictly Private: “But going to court – I thought about it for a while over the weekend – we as journalists are also responsible for that. I mean: when Ali B asked, the first question was: ‘Are you a sexual predator?’:
Take a moment
Evert thinks that is scandalous of Aran. “Yes, that wasn’t possible, was it? Also someone who thought: I’m going to take my moment. This week he will have come up with another brilliant question.”
He continues: “I actually find it very strange that he has to go through that hedge of photographers. Then you can say: ‘He is treated like everyone else’, but that is not the case, because he should be treated like every celebrity and they often go through the back door. And there is usually no hedge of photographers waiting for ‘everyone’.”
Critical questions
It’s no secret that Evert has been somewhat pro-Marco since the beginning — he also kept his alleged victim’s story quiet for a long time.
Jordi: “Critical questions are part of it and they should also be asked to Marco.”
Evert: “By the judge, yes.”
Jordi: “This weekend all kinds of details emerged from the file and if you read them…”
Fidgeting
Evert cannot ignore that either. “Yes, then it goes further than just fidgeting or something. That is true. It is up to the defense to peel it all away and ensure that it does not stick to him in one way or another. That charge is significant and that goes a bit further than we had understood so far.”
It is still unclear whether or not the alleged victim will show up; If he were Marco, Evert would demand that she appear there. “With everything she’s done, I can imagine the defense saying, ‘I want to hear her say this in court.’”
