According to information from the German Press Agency (dpa), the German Football League (DFL) lacks around 30 million euros for the distribution to the 36 professional associations. Accordingly, the DFL contractual partner should be in default with their payments.
The dpa relies on information from league circles. At request, the DFL did not want to comment on the minus from the previous year and pointed out that it did not comment on contract content.
Last year it became known that 80 million euros less could be paid out to the clubs in summer than planned. “The June 2024 rate of disposal will be reduced from originally EUR 127 million to EUR 47 million,” said a DFL letter to the 36 clubs that the dpa has.

It also said: “The reason for this is that proceeds of EUR 80 million can only be collected at a later date this year, since payments from partners could not be made to the contractual due date. At the instigation of the partners concerned, agreements on later payments had to be made.“
One of the companies was, as the streaming service confirmed at the time with reference to an agreement with the DFL. As agreed, the missing sum of around 50 million euros is said to have been paid at a later date. It is not known which company of the DFL and thus the 36 professional clubs will continue to owe around 30 million.
