Disappointment at AFC: second division title goes to Katwijk

AFC did not manage to win the title in the second division on the last matchday. Competitor Katwijk did what it had to do and won 2-1 against Spakenburg at home. AFC depended on Katwijk losing points to still have a chance at the championship, but the team from Amsterdam failed to take the much-needed victory themselves. It was 0-0 against Excelsior Maassluis.

At the start of the last round, Katwijk and AFC both had 68 points. Katwijk really had a much better goal difference. AFC was therefore not allowed to lose itself and moreover hope for Katwijk to lose points in order to claim the championship.

AFC ultimately failed to score against Excelsior Maassluis. The opponent from South Holland also had a lot to play for. Thanks to the 0-0, Exceslior Maassluis secured retention in the second division.
