Dirk Nowitzki opened two new basketball spots in his hometown of Würzburg – and at the same time spoke about his next big challenge.

The 47-year-old will be an expert for the new NBA season as an expert for Prime video work.

“I don’t know if you got it, but I’m starting to work again. At Amazon Prime I will work as an expert. It will start quickly, so I’m looking forward to it,” said Nowitzki in Würzburg.

The former superstar of the Dallas Mavericks is looking forward to his new task: “This is a new challenge, I’m looking forward to it. It will certainly not be easy. I never thought that I would work on the media or on TV.” Above all, it is important to him: “Do a good job” and “bite a little bit”.

It will not be the first appearances of the German as an NBA expert, Nowitzki is several times in the last spring NBA on TNT stepped in for Shaquille O’Neal and shared his knowledge alongside Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith.

Return to the roots

As part of the ceremony at the Gustav Walle School, Nowitzki, his foundation and in cooperation with the Dallas Mavericks, donated two basketball courts to his hometown.

“Dallas is my second home, but here is my first home. A large circle between my old and my new world closes,” he said.

In addition to hundreds of students, table tennis legend Timo Boll was also present, a close friend of Nowitzkis. Nowitzki also discussed the latest European Championship success of the German national team.

“At the moment it is going incredible. It makes you proud to watch how the boys play together,” he said. He is particularly pleased that “now such a focus” is on basketball and “sometimes reports about basketball in the Tagesschau”.
