A dike breach occurred on Monday on the Llangollen Canal in Whitchurch, an English village near the Welsh border. As a result, the canal became partly dry, meaning that several boats are now stuck at the bottom of the waterway. Previously, various media referred to a “sinkhole”, but that description is incorrect, employees of the British waterway operator CRT say at the BBC.
