Born in 1985, Diego mainly held the role of midfielder. In his twenty years of career, the Brazilian played for several teams: from Brazil, with the Santos shirt, up to the Werder Brema in Germanyalso passing through Türkiye, Spain and Italy, as mentioned in the previous paragraph. After six and a half seasons with the Flamengo shirt, with which he has also won the Libertadores cup twice, Diego decided to say goodbye to football in 2022.
After hanging the shoes on the nail, Diego started practicing the triathlon, a multidisciplinary sport in which swimming, race and cycling are practiced. The route consisted of 1.9 km of swimming, reduced to one only due to the sea conditions, 90 km by bike and 21 km of running.

This attracted my attention and I started thinking about the possibility of participating in this race. I think that this challenge also consists in putting yourself in the role of a student and I like this: swimming techniques, strategies for cycling and running. All this tests my athlete mentality“.
