‘Did Radar have to go to NPO 2 for this?!’

Will we see Ruud de Wild and Olcay Gulsen sobbing on their Chesterfield next week about their sad viewing figures? It just might. “This is real ratings panic.”

No one understands anything about it: programs with social value, such as Opsporing Verzoeken and Radar, are relegated to NPO 2, while flagship NPO 1 becomes the stage for mindless entertainment. Ruud de Wild and Olcay Gulsen are now given the space to say ‘I’ as often as possible in an hour.

Ruud and Olcay flop

Ruud and Olcay’s ego trip does not appeal to the viewer. After the meager 586 thousand viewers (14 percent market share) for last week’s premiere, only 484 thousand people (11 percent) were ready for episode two yesterday. With that, NPO 1, the country’s most watched channel, failed to achieve a spot in the top 15 viewing figure.

Viewing figure connoisseur Tina Nijkamp writes: “Viewing panic for Ruud and Olcay. Even fewer viewers than last week! Did NPO 1 score lower last year? Even the Festival of Love scored higher last summer. Why was this moved from NPO 3 to NPO 1? Who thought this could become a hit on NPO 1?”

“Why Radar gone?!”

Tina is surprised that space is being made for a program like Ruud & Olcay. “Did Radar and Opsporing Verzoeken have to move for this? So it also scores very badly with the younger viewer. Not surprising, because both Ruud and Olcay are not well known among young people.”

EenToday star Lammert de Bruin tweets: “NPO 1 success titles such as Radar and Opsporing Ver Request are being banned to NPO 2 to make way for programs such as Ruud & Olcay. Shoot me.”

Two narcissists

Angela de Jong is also surprised about it, she writes in it AD. “How would Radar’s Antoinette Hertsenberg look at this docusoap?”

She herself thinks it’s a travesty. “Somehow we have to be convinced that their life and love is so special that it deserves a TV series, but I don’t see it. Because they only talk about themselves, the image of two annoying super-narcissists arises.”
