DHL increases prices: Parcels are so expensive from July 1st

DHL will adjust its prices for private customers on July 1st. According to an official statement, the shipping of parcels and smaller packages will become more expensive. The shipping giant is also eliminating the online advantage. The prices of larger and heavier packages, on the other hand, remain stable.

If you want to send a package via DHL from July 1st, you have to dig deeper into your pockets in many cases. The company has announced a price increase for certain products. The reason for this is the increased costs for wages and transport, but also for paper. DHL customers who have previously franked their parcels online and benefited from lower prices must also make the change.

Prices for parcels and smaller DHL packages are increasing

Above all, the canceled online discount should make itself felt for many customers. So far, there has been a price reduction for parcel brands purchased via the app or online. Now DHL is aligning prices so packages have the same cost regardless of where the brands were purchased. With the decision, DHL says it wants to make the prices clearer and less complex for customers.

From July 1st, a size S package will cost EUR 3.99 instead of the previous EUR 3.79. The larger variant M should cost 4.79 euros instead of the previous 4.50 euros (branch) or 4.39 euros (online price). Small size S parcels are also increasing in price: DHL will charge EUR 5.49 for them in future instead of EUR 4.99. As before, the S package is only available online. According to DHL, the prices for pack sets and the so-called Pluspackchen, which come with brightly printed cardboard, are also becoming more expensive. The latter previously cost EUR 5.99.

A mixture of price reductions and increases can be seen in the 5 kg package. If you look at the branch price, it will drop from EUR 7.49 to EUR 6.99 on July 1st. However, this very popular and well-received package size could previously be booked online for as little as EUR 5.99. This option will no longer be available. The prices for DHL parcels weighing 10 kg and 31.5 kg remain unchanged. The mail-order company continues to calculate the branch price of EUR 9.49 or EUR 16.49 for them. However, these sizes will also no longer be able to be franked online in the future.

International DHL shipping will be more expensive

Customers who want to send a package abroad must also expect higher costs. However, the price increase only applies to shipping to the USA. The good news here: When shipping abroad, DHL retains the price reduction through online franking. In addition, the customs data collection fee for shipments franked in the branch to non-EU countries of EUR 1.70 is no longer applicable. In the future, it will be included directly in the respective branch prices for non-EU shipping at 1 euro.
