Wück-Elf without luck: DFB women despair of Spain
Updated 11/28/2025 – 10:28 p.mReading time: 7 minutes

The German team has a thrilling duel with the Iberians. The first half of the game in particular is strong for Germany – but a major weakness is troubling the players.
There was more in the first leg of the Nations League final: Despite an exhilarating performance, particularly in the first half of the game, the DFB women couldn’t get past a 0-0 draw in the cracker against Spain.
National coach Christian Wück’s team missed numerous top-class opportunities and missed the chance to gain a good starting position for the second leg in Spain.
The game to read in the ticker:
90. +4 – That was it. Final whistle in Kaiserslautern.
90. +3 – The fact remains: the Spanish goal is nailed down for the DFB team, even in stoppage time. Brand uses Nüsken well, but Cata Coll is on the ball in front of the German attacker and wants to clear – but plays directly into the feet of Martinez in midfield. She takes the shot straight away, tries from a long distance, but her shot goes wide of the goal.
90. +2 – Another German change: Wück brings on Kathrin Hendrich for Senß.
90th minute of play – Four minutes are replayed.
86th minute of the game – Another change for Spain: Esther leaves the field and Edna Imade comes into the game.
84th minute of the game – An example of this: Martinez, who gets the ball in the penalty area but cannot finish. But the Spaniards are unable to clear the ball cleanly and the ball passes through Bühl to Martinez again – who once again doesn’t finish quickly enough.
83rd minute of the game – The game is now taking place primarily in the Spanish half again – the only thing is: the DFB team is simply not having any luck in finishing.
79th minute of play – Bühl is really working hard on her side. But: There is no success: again she is deployed on the left, again she moves into the Spanish penalty area – but this time she doesn’t even finish, she wastes the ball in the hustle and bustle of the defense.
77th minute of play – Double changes in Spain: Aitana and Maria León make way for Athenea and Maria Mendez.
75th minute of the game – And again the post for the DFB team: Brand breaks through on the right and tries a lob against Cata Coll – but puts the ball just on the crossbar.
74th minute of play – Next German change: Wück brings debutant Shekiera Martinez for Anyomi.
