The DFB women have to do without their most important player in the rest of the tournament. Nevertheless, the players think of their captain Giulia Gwinn.

The German footballers sent the injured Giulia Gwinn with special gestures. In the team photo before the second European Championship game against Denmark, Elisa Senß and Klara Bühl held a jersey of their captain with number seven in the cameras, and the DFB players wore a tape on the wrist with gwinn’s initials “GG”. As T-Online observed in Basel, the players also put the jersey Gwinns in the middle of the team circle with number 7.

In the game against Denmark, Gwinn also wished numerous supporters among the approximately 17,000 German fans. On a banner in the curve it was read: “We together for Giuli.”

Because of a inner ligament injury on the knee suffered at the kick -off against Poland (2: 0), the right -back in consultation with her club FC Bayern had left the team quarters in Zurich on Sunday to be treated in Munich. However, it is planned that Gwinn will return to the final group game of the record European champion against Sweden on Saturday (9:00 p.m./ZDF and DAZN) in order to be able to support the DFB selection on site at least from the outside.

Central defender Janina Minge (VfL Wolfsburg) took on the role as a captain. As a right -back, newcomer Carlotta Wamser should fill the gap in the defense.
