Just a few hours after his nomination for the international match of the year, Julian Nagelsmann had to reschedule his personnel again. Instead of Robin Gosens (29) from Union Berlin, David Raum (25) from RB Leipzig will be part of the national team’s squad for the games on November 18th against Turkey in Berlin and three days later in Vienna against Austria. The DFB confirmed this on Friday afternoon.
With Blaswich and Ducksch: The DFB squad for the November international matches
RB coach Marco Rose had previously reported on Raum’s subsequent nomination. The reason for the short-term change: Gosens is expecting the birth of his second child in the coming days and therefore wants to stay with his wife. Most recently, Gosens was given preference in the competition for the position of left full-back. The 29-year-old was in the starting lineup for Nagelsmann’s first two international matches in America against the USA (3:1) and Mexico (2:2) in October. Raum was only substituted on against Mexico because Gosens had muscular problems, as Nagelsmann reported after the game in Philadelphia.
Missing from the DFB team squad: nose operation instead of international matches for Leno
Goalkeeper Bernd Leno is currently undergoing surgery on his nose during the international break. As the DFB announced, this is a planned operation on the 31-year-old FC Fulham goalkeeper. Leno was not nominated for the upcoming international matches by Nagelsmann in favor of Leipzig’s Janis Blaswich (32).
In October he was part of the DFB squad alongside Marc-André ter Stegen, Kevin Trapp and Oliver Baumann, but was not used. The former Leverkusen player played his last of nine international matches more than two years ago at former national coach Hansi Flick’s debut in a 2-0 win against Liechtenstein in St. Gallen.
