DFB squad for the U17 World Cup: Ouédraogo is the most valuable – Brunner is allowed

21 players from 14 clubs

DFB coach Christian Wück has announced his squad for the upcoming U17 World Cup in Indonesia. The German youth team is traveling with 21 talents from 14 different clubs, including Schalke professional Assan Ouédraogo (17) as the most valuable player with a market value of 6 million euros. Also there is BVB striker Paris Brunner (17), whose participation in the World Cup was in jeopardy due to a two-week suspension from the club. The tournament will be held from November 10th to December 2nd.

In addition to Ouédraogo and Brunner, Noah Darvich (17) from the FC Barcelona reserves is another Fritz Walter Medal winner in the squad. He is one of two nominees who are active abroad. While Darvich left SC Freiburg last summer, ex-HSV talent Farid Alfa-Ruprecht (17) has been playing in Manchester City’s youth team since 2022. FC Bayern (4) has the most young players in the DFB squad. The German team, as the reigning U17 European champions, will first face Mexico in Group F before facing New Zealand and Venezuela.

“After winning the European Championship title with the 2006 class, we are looking forward to another highlight in youth football, participation in the World Cup. As a team, we want to build on our performance at the European Championship tournament in Hungary and represent Germany on the biggest possible stage with heart and passion. A challenging group phase awaits us, in which we start with the interim goal of moving into the knockout rounds. Afterwards we want to compete for the title at this level. We are of course pleased that we can rely on many players from the European Championship squad and we would like to thank the clubs for their good cooperation,” said Wück about the nomination.
