DFB Managing Director Andreas Rettig expects that the German national team will draw the right conclusions from the painful international bankruptcy in Slovakia. “The team was rightly criticized,” said Rettig at “ProSieben Maxx”. “I think that the trainer found the right words, Rudi Völler found the right words, but also the team, and I liked that, was self -critical. She really went on to court very hard.”

The selection of the German Football Association of national coach Julian Nagelsmann had lost 0-2 in Bratislava against Slovakia on Thursday evening in the World Cup qualification. When asked during the German U21 international game in Albania, whether you will see young people at the World Cup in the A team next summer, Rettig was held back. “First of all, we have to qualify. That is also part of the truth. Now we should not start doing the second before the first step after this game, which has really left our mark.”
Like national coach Nagelsmann, Rettig also promised a clear increase in performance for the next game on Sunday (8:45 p.m./RTL) against Northern Ireland. “We will do everything we can to show a different face on Sunday,” emphasized the DFB managing director, “because there is nothing better than being there at a world championship and we will throw everything in on Sunday in Cologne.”
Nagelsmann wanted six victories in six games on the way to the World Cup. This goal is already gone. But of course first place in Group A with the Slovaks, Northern Ireland and Luxembourg is still possible. The decision could be made against Slovakia in Leipzig in the last game on November 17th in Leipzig. First of all, however, a victory should be made on Sunday.
