The SC Paderborn has moved into the second round of the DFB Cup. The East Westphalia won their opening game with the third division club Viktoria Cologne.
Before 5,409 fans in the Köln-Höhenberg sports park, the second division SC Paderborn won 3-1 (3-0) in the early Sunday afternoon.
Viktoria Cologne Started courageously: the Cologne team played through the right side in the fourth minute – and one flank came through Viktoria attacker Robin Velasco, who did not really hit the ball in a promising position.
But shortly afterwards, the guests took a merciless man from Cologne goalkeeper Dudu: The goalkeeper had the ball on the foot in the build-up game and could not part with it in time-SCP striker Adriano Grimaldi intervened and scored the opening goal for the second division (5th minute).
There was only about three minutes the next damper for the hosts trained by Marian Wilhelm: Paderborns Raphael Obermair had plenty of space on the left attack side and flanked into the penalty area – Grimaldi lurked there and hit his head.
The Viktoria needed something to recover from the early shock: In the 21st minute, David Otto had the first degree for the Cologne – but his long -range shot was not placed enough, so SCP keeper Markus Schubert had no trouble with it.
Bilbija transforms Paderborner penalty
Bilbija meets Paderborn by penalty
The Paderborners acted very confidently. The East Westphalia did not burn anything in the defense and kept needing pinpricks on the offensive. And in the 35th minute, the guests were even able to score their third goal of the day by penalty: Filip Bilbija shot the ball from the penalty point in the top of the cross to the top of the cross. Referee Sören Stork had decided on a penalty after Viktoria midfielder Florian Engelhardt had brought Paderborn Sebastian Klaas down in the penalty area.
Viktoria does not give up
Even after that, the hosts did not stop. From the half -time break, the Viktoria came with a new vigor and offensive urge. In the 59th minute, the Cologne team scored their first goal: a long-range shot from Jonah Sticker landed with teammate Otto, who accepted the ball and hit the SCP goal from about six meters (59.).
After that, the Paderborns wobbled something, but the Cologne team could not add any further goals. Instead, SCP striker Stefano Marino had a great chance in a counterattack in the 74th minute to make everything clear. The 21-year-old ran freely for Viktoria keeper Dudu, wanted to walk by, but failed.
Then the Viktoria had a good chance again: Tobias Eisenhuth fled a free kick from about 20 meters away just above the guest goal (80th). The Viktoria tried to further increase the pressure in the final phase. However, the hosts did not make any further goals and thus eliminated the DFB Cup. Paderborn’s new coach Ralf Kettemann, on the other hand, remained unbeaten again and reached the second round of cup with his team.
