It has been a year since Paulien Cornelisse announced that her cancer had been established. A line was immediately set by her theater tour Komma, but now she makes her debut as a jury member in De Slimste Mens. How exactly does that go together? In April, the comedian indicated that it was still being treated at that time.

Fit enough?

Ad-Opiniediva Angela de Jong then wondered what exactly Paulien’s condition is. “She is sick and we don’t know how she is doing, but the fact that they are bringing this out now, says that she is good enough to tackle this job,” she told the New Revu.

Can Paulien take it to run such a quiz? “She is the only one who can decide whether she is fit enough for this. It is nice to see that she apparently can handle this, that gives hope.”

Screen test

Paulien does not want to spend too much about it, this weekend shows an interview with it Ad. In it she says: “When I was asked to do a screen test (for the smartest person, ed.), I got cancer. That soon became an extra reason to go for it. If you experience something so stupid, it is important to do fun things.”

She continues: “I would rather not talk about it. Look, I would actually tour with a theater performance. That could and still could not continue. Participating in the smartest therefore became more and more important to me. Because this is a bit of my normal life if you understand what I mean.”

Oncologist

Apparently her body cannot handle a busy theater tour yet, but sitting still on the jury chair of the smartest. She enjoys this possible. “In any case, it has more to do with my normal life than being in the hospital. My oncologist, a fan of the program, said luckily: you have to do!”

The recordings are now over and Paulien looks back on it with a good feeling. “Every recording day I thought: yes, how wonderful that this is possible!”
