But the municipality thought differently. “For events on the water, a report is insufficient,” was the explanation.
Penalty of 10,000 euros
Despite that, Bart decided to sail that evening. Not under the official denominator of a Gondelvaart, but with nearly a hundred boats in Barts Kielzog it became a success.
But the municipality was unhappy about this. “To prevent the event from taking place anyway, a preventive order subject to a penalty was imposed on him,” the spokesperson explains.
“However, prior to the event, the initiator announced in various ways that the event would continue and people are calling to participate actively. On the day of the event itself, the supervisors found that he acted as an organizer and that he was leading his own boat.” So the penalty of 10,000 euros fell on his doormat afterwards.
Permit now inside
Nevertheless, Bart wants to keep a gondola ride again this year. But now he is throwing it over a different approach: this year he will sail with a permit. It is now also inside.
But a lot needs to be arranged for that. This way participants can to registerthere is a maximum speed of 6 kilometers per hour and pontoon boats with more than 25 people and heavy sound installations are not allowed to mention a number of rules.
Both Bart and the municipality are looking forward to the gondola ride. “We warmly welcome events that match the character of our municipality and hope that many people will enjoy the return of the Gondelvaart on our puddles,” says the municipality.
On Saturday the boats gather at the Wastobbe at 9.30 pm to sail over the ponds from there.
