A few months later merger club FC Haarlem-Kennemerland, when the bankrupt HFC Haarlem and amateur club HFC Kennemerland continued together. “I also have a history at HFC Haarlem,” says Rademaker. “I cherish the history and I think we should keep a reminder of the professional past in our field.”
Desolate
“But we must also be realistic,” the chairman continues. “The grandstand makes a desolate impression. It is the logical consequence of lack of maintenance and attention. That has been going on for decades.” The city council has plans to take the area around the sports fields considerably. For example, there will be new homes in the old parking lot of the stadium, under field 1 of Haarlem-Kennemerland there will be a parking garage.
What will happen to the remainder of the main stand is not yet clear. Haarlem-Kennemerland still has a storage space under the stands. A party center is located at the rear.
