Deputy Henk Brink receives the highest award from the VVD

Deputy Henk Brink (VVD) from Zwiggelte has received the highest award of his party. It concerns the mr. DU Stikker plaque.

The mr. DU Stikker plaque is the highest award within the VVD for local politicians and is named after the party’s first chairman. It is awarded to someone who carries out political work in public administration for the VVD in an exceptional manner and with great dedication.

Brink has been a member of the VVD since he was eighteen and has been politically active for more than twenty years as a municipal councilor, party chairman and deputy. He is currently serving his third term as deputy. He will retire after the formation of the new provincial board.

“Henk Brink has made Drenthe a lot more liberal in the various functions, liberalism was instilled in him with the young spoon,” said Mark Strolenberg, member of parliament for the VVD, last night at the party’s members’ meeting in Westerbork. “He has long been committed to making Drenthe the bicycle province of the Netherlands, committed to sound and healthy financial policy and believes that entrepreneurs should be given space to do business.”

According to the party, the award should not be seen as a farewell award, but as an incentive award.
