Fans have eagerly awaited it: the video for the new one Single “Ghosts Again” is here – it corresponds to the aesthetics of the new album that have been released so far “Memento Mori”.

The clip is in black and white: In it, Dave Gahan and Martin Gore play on an oversized chessboard in front of a big city backdrop. It is certainly not by chance that they are dressed in black and with a hood. They have their canes leaning against them so that the camera can also pan over the skulls that adorn their canes.

Pre-order: Depeche Mode exclusive 7-inch single: “Ghosts Again”, only in MUSIKEXPRESS 4/23

In another shot, both are in a graveyard. While Gore appears to be leaning against a tombstone, Gahan crawls across the dirt – towards a dancing ghost figure.

The symbolic power of the video is unmistakable and a reminder of what Depeche Mode have been through over the past few months. Andrew Fletcher’s death changed the band but didn’t break it.
