The guests had already taken a quick 2-0 lead from the first third thanks to Boaz Bassen (5th) and Brown (9th). But the favorite came back into the game thanks to Zach Boychuk (30th) and Tobias Eder (39th).

Guest goalie Cody Brenner (38 saves, 95 percent blocked shots) prevented a deficit several times before Schwenningen was able to celebrate shortly before the end.

Bremerhaven could move straight away

Nevertheless, with a three-point lead and a better goal difference over their pursuers Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven, the Eisbären will still lead the table after the 35th matchday. With a win on Friday at the Löwen Frankfurt, Schwenningen can draw level with Berlin with 72 points.
