The Roosters remain second to last in the table with 29 points. The lead over the Dresdner Eislöwen in the relegation zone is ten points. The Adler have 62 points and consolidated second place in the table, one point behind leaders ERC Ingolstadt and two points for the Kölner Haien.

Iserlohn scores with the first attack

The game was decided in the middle third after the Roosters sniffed at a surprise in the first half. After a few minutes of testing, the Eagles took control of the game, but the Roosters survived their first outnumbered game unscathed. But nothing went forward for Iserlohn. It was all the more surprising when the guests took the lead with their first relief attack: Camara scored on an assist from Colin Ugeblike to make it 1-0 for the Roosters (14th).

The joy didn’t last long, however, as Mannheim hit back just two minutes later. Solow ran freely towards Andreas Jenike and pushed the puck through the IEC goalie’s legs – 1:1 (16th).

But it only took 18 seconds before Iserlohn was surprisingly able to celebrate again. In direct response to the goal, Salsten deflected a shot from Ugbelike into the Mannheim goal, giving the Sauerland team a 2-1 lead after the first third.

Roosters without a shot on goal in the middle third

But the middle third wasn’t the Roosters’ third. Iserlohn did not record a single shot on goal in the second half. Instead, the Sauerlanders were outnumbered after just 24 seconds after a penalty against Anthony Camara and conceded the equalizer from Plachta just nine seconds later (21st).

Two minutes later, Mannheim finally turned the game around, Michaelis scored to make it 3-2 (23rd). Bennett even increased the score to 2:4 from the Roosters’ perspective in the 34th.

In the final third, the Iserlohn team briefly regained hope. Salsten scored his second goal in the majority (45th). The Roosters started again and took goalie Jenike off the ice in the final phase. However, the shot backfired. Mannheim’s Mattinen scored into the empty goal in the 59th minute to make the final score 5:3.
