The Eisbären Berlin have suffered another setback in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

The German champions clearly lost 1:6 (0:2, 1:1, 0:3) against league leaders ERC Ingolstadt and have now lost five of their last six home games. Liam Kirk scored the Capitals’ only goal.

After a minute’s silence for the victims of the Magdeburg attack, the 14,200 spectators in the sold-out arena at Ostbahnhof saw an intense encounter in which the guests were the more determined team. In the 7th minute, Wayne Simpson gave Ingolstadt the lead, and former Eisbären professional Morgan Ellis extended the lead with a deflected long-range shot (17th).

In the final minutes the Berliners conceded three more goals

In the second third, the Berliners kept trying, but made too many inaccuracies. The guests were able to pull ahead 3-0 thanks to a goal from Riley Sheen (35th). Kirk gave the home team hope once again with his goal (38th).

However, against the consistently defending leaders, the Eisbären found no way to turn the game around in the final period. Instead, Alex Breton (57th), Daniel Pietta (59th) and Myles Powell (60th) ensured a clear victory for the guests.
