It is not recovered in repairing the errors made when determining the daily wage of WIA benefits in the period 2020-2024. That decision is stated in a letter to Parliament from Minister Eddy van Hijum (Social Affairs and Employment) about the recovery operation.
Earlier, the minister had already indicated that he wanted to be reluctant to recover any if people received too high benefits due to incorrect calculations. Minister Van Hijum now decides not to reclaim in case errors have been made by UWV in the WIA daily wage determination between 2020 and 2024. This means that the minister wants to remove the uncertainty from people as quickly as possible that they may have to repay an amount. This also applies to the terminated benefits between 2020 and 2024.
Dit zorgt er ook Before this recovery operation does not become unnecessarily even more complex. “
Prevent adverse consequences
Some people have received too little benefit due to the errors in the daily wage. With the recovery operation they still receive that amount in the form of a supplementary payment. In cooperation with UWV, the minister tries to ensure that any supplementary payments have as few adverse consequences as possible on, for example, allowances that people receive, such as rent or care allowance. This also applies to other forms of income support or taxation. The minister strives to prevent a supplementary payment from counting for the total income of persons or households. More information will follow about the elaboration of this this fall.
Recovery operation errors daily wages
UWV will check the benefit for a total of 43 thousand people for possible errors in the daily wage between 2020 and 2024. These people have now almost all informed by the implementing organization. UWV has also informed almost all 173 thousand people that there is no reason to assume that mistakes have been made. Their benefit therefore remains the same.
The investigation into the benefits where mistakes may have been made can – as the minister indicated in an earlier letter – will go through until 2027. All benefits are carefully checked. In the meantime, UWV organizes various information meetings and will remain in contact with the people who are involved. UWV has also appointed an extra team that provides personal guidance and helps with problems or next steps.
In the short term, Minister Van Hijum will also work on an independent reporting point for beneficiaries with concerns and questions. This was a specific wish of the House of Representatives. The minister considers such a reporting point of great importance to restore trust.
Improve quality UWV
Part of the improvement approach is also that UWV improves the quality of social-medical services as quickly as possible. At the moment there are different measurements and studies that will help UWV to give the right benefit to people and such errors in the future.
