Decreasing number of employers hired student workers during the summer months | Domestic

In July and August, 28.5 percent of employers hired student workers. This is what HR services group Liantis says based on data from 25,280 employers. Last year it was still 30 percent.

Liantis believes that the bad weather in July played a role. Another possible explanation is that more and more student workers work all year round and there is therefore a better distribution of the work.

Liantis says based on RSZ figures that eight in ten students also work outside the summer months. “There may be many nice days in the autumn when student workers can fully participate and the year will still end with higher grades,” says Matthias Debruyckere of Liantis.

Employers who work with student workers employ an average of 4.2. That figure is also slightly lower than in 2022, when there were 4.6. Wages have risen thanks to indexation: an average of 13.26 euros gross per hour, compared to 12 euros in the summer of 2022.
