For weeks there were discussions about Thomas Müller’s future. Even a career end of the world champion did not rule out. Apparently it is now clear: he continues.
It wasn’t it yet. Thomas Müller will continue his career, reports the TV station Sky on Tuesday. Accordingly, the 2014 world champion will switch to the USA. Two clubs are still in the race, including Los Angeles FC, the FC Bayern partner association in the United States. A decision is to be announced in the next seven to ten days.
LAFC coach Steven Cherundolo publicly campaigned for Müller in June. “Of course I would be happy if he comes. Thomas suits us with his type, his experience, his class perfectly, but also with his mentality. Anyone who thinks that in Los Angeles is only about the weather and show, they are huge. We want to win titles. And Müller knows how to do this,” said the former player of Hannover 96 in an interview with the “Bild”.
Müller himself had not publicly commented on individual interested parties. During the club World Cup, he even hinted at a career end. “I would like to discover something new, which is why more distant or exotic countries have an advantage over the local league. I have never officially ruled out, but I don’t have it in mind now. But it is also about a sporty project,” said Müller, who then added: “But maybe I actually stop. Everything is still possible and I don’t stress myself.”
Müller is currently still on vacation, but it should continue somewhere else promptly. He had left FC Bayern after the club World Cup after around 25 years.
