The French sporting goods giant Decathlon is recalling two running products because of a possible safety risk. The GPS watch “Running Kiprun GPS 500” and the GPS heart rate monitor “Kiprun 550” are affected, a company spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

The reason for the recall is the watch’s battery, “which could possibly overheat and potentially cause burns and/or catch fire during charging or use,” explained the German subsidiary of the group, based in Plochingen in Baden-Württemberg Message.

The products with item numbers 8527648, 8527647, 8527651 and 8527652 should therefore no longer be used and should be returned to a branch. The article number can be read on the back of the watch. There is no deadline for the return and the purchase price will be refunded. (dpa)
