Seven years after the death of football professional Davide Astori from AC Florence, a doctor of the first division club was sentenced to a one-year prison sentence.
The doctor, who had attested an unrestricted game suitability for negligent killing, who had attested to Astori despite a heart disease, must also pay compensation in the amount of one million euros.
Astori died of bradycardia
Astori was found lifeless in his hotel room in Udine in March 2018. Subsequent investigations showed that the 31 -year -old captain of the “Fiorentina” died of a bradycardia, an extreme slowdown of the heartbeat.
In his professional career, Astori had also played with the first division clubs Cagliari Calcio and AS Rome before his commitment to Tuscany. The defender completed 14 missions for the “Squadra Azzurra”. His unexpected death had triggered great dismay in Italy. Astori left a woman and a daughter.
