Deadly tornado drags baby in cradle, boy is miraculously found alive in tree | Abroad

A four-month-old baby has survived a deadly tornado in the US state of Tennessee. Little Lord was sleeping in his crib when he was suddenly dragged away. Miraculously, his parents found him alive in a fallen tree a few meters away. “As if his guardian angel had guided him safely to that place,” says his mother Sydney.

A series of deadly tornadoes ripped through the US state of Tennessee last weekend. The city of Clarksville, where 22-year-old Sydney Moore lived in a caravan with her 39-year-old boyfriend and two children, was hit hard. The tornado tore the roof off the couple’s trailer and carried away the crib where their four-month-old son Lord was sleeping. “He was the first to go into the air,” Sydney testifies.

Lord’s father tried to save his son, but was also pulled into the air by the tornado and suffered a dislocated shoulder. “He tried to grab the cradle but kept spinning in circles. Moments later they were both dragged away.”

Sydney tried to flee with her one-year-old son Princeton. “But just then the walls collapsed. I lay under the rubble and could no longer breathe,” says the young mother. She eventually managed to free herself and Princeton and the two escaped with minor cuts and bruises. As soon as the worst was over, the family immediately started looking for Lord.

Guardian angel

After ten minutes of searching, the parents found their baby in a fallen tree, about nine meters from the caravan. “I feared he was dead and we wouldn’t find him. But there he lay, as if his guardian angel had guided him safely to that place,” says a relieved Sydney.

The tornadoes and storms that wreaked havoc in Tennessee last weekend claimed at least six lives. Numerous homes across the state have been severely damaged or destroyed.
