De Jong, Sels and Brouwer in Wimbledon qualifying | Tennis

Three Dutch tennis players will try to qualify for Wimbledon next week. Jesper de Jong, Jelle Sels and Gijs Brouwer participate in the qualifications. They have to win three matches to be allowed to participate in the third grand slam tournament of the year, just like Botic van de Zandschulp, Tallon groenpoor and Tim van Rijthoven.

Van de Zandschulp and Greek track are automatically admitted based on their place in the world ranking. Van Rijthoven received a wild card after winning the Rosmalen grass tournament.

De Jong will compete against 34-year-old Illija Marchenko from Ukraine in the first qualifying round. Sels starts against Yannick Hanfmann from Germany, Brouwer meets Australian Max Purcell. It is not yet known which tennis players from the Netherlands will participate in the qualifications for the women.
