Milano, 8 May. (askanews) – Naturalist, scientific communicator, environmentalist, inventor of documentaries dedicated to nature and animals as we know them today: David Attenborough, the man who brought the wonders of the planet to the TV screens of British people and around the world, turns 100.

His home is the BBC, where he has worked for 8 decades, since the 1950s – among the most famous series “Life on Earth” – continuing to deal with documentaries even after the age of 90. British national TV celebrates him with an entire week of programming dedicated to his life and events at the Royal Albert Hall.

A great nature enthusiast, he studied zoology and geology at universityhad the intuition to film species in their natural habitat, with risky expeditions to the most remote corners of the planet, then narrating them with his calm and respectful ways of nature and science.

For decades he has used his voice and prestige to fight against climate change and the protection of biodiversity.

In the UK he is an institution, he was a big fan there too Queen Elizabeth who knighted him and shared the year of birth with him, 1926.
