Dave Grohl bursts into tears on stage

At the Foo Fighters’ first concert with their new drummer Josh Freese on May 24 in New Hampshire, the band dedicated the song “My Hero” to the late Taylor Hawkins. Dave Grohl, the band’s frontman, apparently fought back tears during the performance. Hawkins was found dead in his hotel room in Colombia in March 2022 at the age of 50.

Grohl addressed the audience before the show began and said, “Please welcome the man behind the drums, Josh Freese, who helped save the band. We wouldn’t be here tonight if it weren’t for Josh, so please give Josh a big frigging round of applause!”

Later in the concert, Grohl’s 17-year-old daughter Violet came on stage to perform the song “Shame Shame” from the album Medicine At Midnight (2021).

New record with a new drummer is coming

Josh Freese was announced as the new drummer for Foo Fighters on May 21. The 50-year-old is one of the most sought-after session drummers in the rock world, can be heard on hundreds of studio productions and has worked with Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, The Offspring, Avril Lavigne, Suicidal Tendencies and many more. He is also a regular member of The Vandals and A Perfect Circle. Freese also released four solo albums. He also played at the tribute concerts for Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022, in London and Los Angeles. It is not yet known whether Freese will become a permanent member or will only be part of the upcoming tour.

On April 19, the rock band announced their new studio album But Here We Are with their single “Rescued.” On April 12, the band shared a short instrumental snippet of the song on social media, which has now been released in its entirety. The new piece goes from “anger and sadness to serenity and acceptance, and countless points in between,” according to a press release. The newly announced and 11th studio album by the group around singer Dave Grohl is “the first chapter of the band’s new life” and “a brutally honest and emotionally raw answer to everything that [die Band] went through in the last year”.

The new record will be released on June 2nd. The track listing:
