Who are the favorites?
Two teams have been dominating the World Championships at will. We are talking about Olympic champion Norway and world champion France. Denmark and Sweden complete the absolute top of the world, which only the Netherlands could mix up when winning the title in 2019. It is difficult to imagine that the title will not go to Scandinavia or France.
After the resignation of world handball player Stine Author Dahmke, the Norwegian team can hope for a return from back player Nora Mork. The 34-year-old has recently become a mother, but has already celebrated her comeback in the league at Team Esbjerg. France, on the other hand, can rely on his young guard and has three aspiring top performers with Lena Grandveau (22 years), Sarah Booktit (23) and Pauletta Foppa (24).
Two -time world champion: Nora Mork is one of the most successful players in her generation.
What are the chances of the German handball players?
The German Handball Association (DHB) issued the semi -finals as a declared goal. “The goal is very clear: to successfully make the games in Stuttgart, to have a successful main round phase in Dortmund and then deliver an insane quarter-finals with full support from the audience.”said sports director Ingo Meckes in the Sportschau interview.
The qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris – for the first time since 2008 – was a milestone for the team and gives hope for the home World Cup. Both the preliminary round group C and the main round against the teams of Group D (Spain, Montenegro, Faröer Islands, Paraguay) should be a feasible task for the team of national coach Gaugisch.
In a possible quarter -finals, however, a lot would have to come together so that the German team comes under the top four.
Who plays for Germany?
The national coach has the opportunity to report 20 players until shortly before the tournament start. On the matchday itself, he has to reduce the contingent to 16 players.
The team is cited by captain Antje Döll, who is under contract with Bundesliga club Neckarsulm after the Ludwigsburg-Aus. Important actors are middle player Alina Grijseels (Borussia Dortmund) and the internationally experienced Xenia Smits (Metz Handball). The DHB team is also of high quality in the half-right position.
There, Germany is strongly occupied with Nina Engel (HSG Bensheim-Auerbach) and Viola Leuchter (Odense Handbold) both from a distance and in one-on-one. Katharina Filter (Team Esbjerg) and Sarah Wachter (Borussia Dortmund) in the goal of the Germans will have to play a strong tournament so that dreams could come true of a medal.
