One of the German participants is further at the Darts World Cup in London. Gabriel Clemens won against Alex Spellman.
The German darts professional Gabriel Clemens celebrated a confident opening success at the World Championships. The 42-year-old defeated American Alex Spellman 3-0. In round two, the Saarwellingen player will face the Dutchman Wessel Nijman.
“I’m glad that I’m there this year despite the bad season,” said “The German Giant” before his 17th World Cup appearance on Sport1: “The atmosphere in the Ally Pally is always special.”
The 2023 World Cup semi-finalist secured the second leg win under the eyes of his compatriots Arno Merk, also in round two, and Lukas Wenig with a high finish of over 170 points – and subsequently only gave up one more leg. The first match dart brought “Gaga” the decision.
Luke Humphries had previously qualified for the second round after a small wobble in the evening session. The world champion from January 2024 defeated his English compatriot Ted Evetts (28) 3-1.
