Edmonton Oilers Kasperi Kapanen29, will not return to the rinks right away.
Oilers head coach Chris Knoblauch said on Friday that Kapase has weeks of trouble ahead of him at worst.
– At least a week. Possibly several weeks. We will get more information later. He’s not coming back anytime soon, Knoblauch told the NHL on the website.
The Finnish forward was injured on October 19 in a match against the Detroit Red Wings and has been sidelined from his team’s matches since then.
Kapanen was supposed to return to the Oilers lineup at the beginning of December and he already had time to train with the team, but on Thursday, another setback hit the road.
He left his team’s practice frustrated. Savolainen knocked the row of sticks upside down with a powerful blow as he left the ice.
Kapanen has played six matches this season with 0+2 points. He started the season well. Kapanen brought a lot of energy to the Oilers and bombed a total of 16 tackles in the matches he played.
