The German gymnast Nils Dunkel is barely scratched past the medal ranks in the all-around European European Championship in Leipzig than expected.
Dunkel came in a strong fifth place with 80.932 points on Thursday evening, team -mate Timo Eder took 13th place with 79.231 points. The Turking Adem Asil (82,398) became European champion ahead of Leo Saladino (France/81,430) and Krisztofer Meszaros (Hungary/81.164).
Dark had found the competition in front of around 5,200 spectators in the Leipzig exhibition hall 1 and even guided on the pommel horse and on the rings after his first two exercises.
Despite a strong performance, the 28-year-old had to have the competition passed on the remaining devices. The 19-year-old Eder was a day after his gold coup in the mixed team final together with Karina Schönmaier from the top ratings from the start. On Saturday, both Eder and Dunkel still compete in the Barren final.
Seitz announces goodbye
In the afternoon, the German record champion Elisabeth Seitz in Leipzig announced her career end, the competition day had started with a shock for the German Turner Association (DTB).
In the all -round of women, Helen Kevric, who started as a medal candidate, was injured at the jump in the landing, and the competition for the 17 -year -old was already at the first device – as well as the rest of the European Championship. Head coach Gerben Wiersma spoke of a “knee disc injury”. Kevric was taken to the hospital, and a precise diagnosis is to be made in her sporting home Stuttgart.
As the second representative of the German colors, Janoah Müller came to 20th place in the all -around final. Kevric would also have been one of the medal candidate in the individual finale on the uneven bars, which takes place on Friday – in qualification she was the best on this device.
