Daphne Deckers pees in the shower, but celebrates Christmas in Florida

What a crazy thing it is with those celebrities: they constantly talk in the media about how concerned they are about the climate, but when the cameras go off they immediately get on the next flight.

The celebrities are great at it: explaining to other people how you can live as climate neutrally as possible, so that we can all let the earth warm up a little less quickly. But almost all stars appear not to live by what they preach at all. A notorious example is ‘climate warrior’ Isa Hoes, who flies even more often than the average flight attendant.

Kerosene guzzler

Isa thinks it is very important that we think about the climate, but is herself the biggest kerosene guzzler in the neighborhood. How does she justify that? She says that she compensates for her CO2 emissions by having a number of trees planted somewhere. “Because of course I feel bad about being on a plane.”

Crying on the plane, that poor girl… On to Daphne Deckers. She shouts in her columns that we should pee in the shower en masse. Because? “That really saves water: just 7 liters.” Applause for Daphne. She has now been awarded ‘climate conscious girl‘. Quite an honorary title.

Climate conscious girl

And where is that climate-conscious girl going to spend Christmas? In Florida! Her whole family flies to Disney World in Orlando for a week to look at the Christmas lights. When they fly economy class, the four of them emit so many greenhouse gases that you… 104 days could illuminate the Eiffel Tower.

Daughter Emma Deckers in the latest Weekend: “I really like Christmas, Christmas is always a big deal in our family. We are now also going on holiday with the whole family and supporters, a week to Disney World in Florida.”

Nice weather

Daphne and her family celebrated Christmas last year in an expensive resort in Marbella, and are now leaving for Florida. If they find the climate so important, why don’t the four of them sit around the Christmas tree in Muiden?

Yes, that’s just not the case, according to Emma. “Amusement parks are very much part of our family, we think that’s fantastic. And we also have better weather there.”

With a little luck, Disney will still help them with an artificial white Christmas. But a green Christmas? That’s definitely not going to happen to him…
