Daphne Deckers should not think about ever celebrating King’s Day in Amsterdam. She is really tired of the capital of our country. “With parking rates of 8 euros per hour!”
In Amsterdam they never have to count on a visit by Daphne Deckers during the annual King’s Day celebration. The 56-year-old writer, who lives in Muiderberg himself, finds the capital scorching on these days. She therefore avoids the plague and prefers to stay in her own village or in similar villages in our country.
Nervous feeling
Daphne thinks it is shown to go along the Amsterdam canals. “I have not been celebrating it in Amsterdam or another big city for years, because I am no longer looking forward to that massive,” she writes in the Woman.
According to her, things are going completely wrong in the Randstad in particular. “I don’t know what happened in the big cities, but at festivities there is now often a nervous feeling, as if the atmosphere can change any moment.”
8 euros per hour
Amsterdam mainly attracts trashy Volk, says Daphne. “You have to pay attention to your bag all the time, quite a few partygoers are stoned and drunk, and the parking rates of almost 8 euros per hour do not contribute to the festive spirit.”
Outside the big cities, the Netherlands is ‘very different’ according to her. According to her, it is more pleasant. “I recently heard on the radio that people in big cities have started to walk faster and faster. Well, they are not doing that in the province.”
