Danny Blind nominated for return to Ajax Supervisory Board

Danny Blind appears to be returning to the Ajax Supervisory Board. The club announced this morning that Blind has been nominated.

Blind also held that position at Ajax between 2018 and 2021. Two years ago he left the club – initially temporarily – because he became assistant to Louis van Gaal with the Dutch national team. Last December, after the World Cup, Blind announced that he would not return to Ajax.

Blind was the only one within the Supervisory Board with a background as a football player at Ajax. The club only managed to find a successor for him in Jan van Halst in April. Van Halst stopped doing this in September, when he was appointed as temporary general manager. When he is relieved by the new director, Alex Kroes, in March, Van Halst will not return to the Supervisory Board.

Blind played in Ajax’s defense between 1986 and 1999 and experienced great success during that period. In Amsterdam, in addition to 5 national titles, he also won the Champions League, the European Cup II, the UEFA Cup and the World Cup. Later he was also a trainer and technical director at Ajax.

The Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of Ajax must ultimately make a decision on Blind’s appointment.
