Damon Albarn: “I Guarantee Oasis Will Get Back Together”

The Blur singer also wants a new Oasis album.

Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) predicts that Britpop band Oasis will reunite soon. According to an interview, Albarn would even bet his money that his former Manchester rivals will perform together again. He also wants a new Oasis album.

Speaking to British tabloid The Sun, the “Parklife” singer opened up about brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher’s never-ending argument. “I can guarantee they’ll get back together,” Albarn stated. “To be honest, I’d even bet my money on it.”

Only a short time later, in an interview with the music magazine “Consequence”, the musician from London once again underlined his optimism about the Oasis: “Of course they will be back [zusammen spielen]. The way is now clear for that. I think that would be great! […] Of course, I expect an excellent album to go with it,” Albarn said.

Albarn’s band Blur and Oasis were considered the flagships of Britpop in the 1990s. Both bands were in competition at the time, which was particularly emphasized by the Gallagher brothers, who are known for their directness. In recent years, however, the enmity has waned, with Noel Gallagher even appearing as a guest musician on Albarn’s Gorillaz project.

Rumors of a possible Oasis reunion have been floating around for a while. Even Noel Gallagher, who is currently going solo, hasn’t completely ruled out a reunion. Blur, on the other hand, have found each other for the first time since 2015 and will release their new album THE BALLAD OF DARREN on July 21st. A tour for the summer and autumn is also planned, but no dates for Germany have been announced so far.
